In April 2011 SCHAAF received an order from one of the world´s leading windmill manufacturers for the delivery of bolt tensioning devices which can be operated fully automatic by means of robot. These are used for the assembly of rotor flange connections.
The tool has a standardized connection interface for an industry robot, which allows the functions: Positioning, screwing with thread cleaning at the same time, tensioning and nut locking to be carried out automatically.

The tensioning process is speed up and with less trouble by the high automation level. Only by the automation level the plan to tighten 300 bolts per day can be achieved in a first step.
Further attention was paid to the service ability: The tools have available wear parts which are easy and quick to change without the aid of special tools, that grants a nearly unlimited tool availability at any time
